Description

Tuxedomoon - Holy Wars

Tuxedomoon were revered and highly influential throughout Europe when they recorded "Holy Wars" in 1985. The album contains some of their most poignant and moving songs : “Some Guys”, “In a Manner of Speaking” (later covered by Martin Gore and by Nouvelle Vague), “Bonjour Tristesse”, “Holy Wars”. It introduced new instrumental colors: Blaine Reininger had left the band, and had just been replaced by Dutch trumpet and harmonica player Luc van Lieshout. Among other subjects, the lyrics are about wandering in the new European megapolis: Wim Wenders recognizes some of his own obsessions, and uses “Some Guys” in the opening scenes of “The Sky Above Berlin”.
