For the first time since  the sad demise of their oldest vocalists
(Ion Manole, Niculae Neacsu, Cacurica and Ilie Iorga), Taraf de Haïdouks
intend to revisit some of the old styles which have enchanted Western
audiences on their earlier albums: medieval Romanian ballads, old Gypsy
love songs, not forgetting old-school dance tunes, and breathtaking
Turkish-flavoured instrumentals. To do this, they'll be re-enlisting some
of their former collaborators, such as Tsagoi (a great singer, the son
of the late Neacsu), Gheorghe Manole (another excellent vocalist,
who has mastered the repertoire of his father, the wonderful Ion Manole),
and Viorica, the woman who sang their iconic song "Dumbala Dumba".

Described by The Independent as "The best Gypsy band in the world",
Taraf de Haïdouks are considered as the epitome of Gypsy music’s fabulous
vitality ever since the release of their debut album and their first visit to western
Europe back in 1991. They've relentlessly toured all around the globe, and their countless
fans include people like the late Yehudi Menuhin, Kronos Quartet,
actor Johnny Depp, fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto among others.

This crowdfunding project is being set up by the Taraf de Haïdouks, in collaboration
with their manager/artistic director Stéphane Karo and their label Crammed Discs.
