Dear friends of Crammed and Taraf de Haidouks!
Apologies for being insistent, but
there's only 3 days left until the end of the campaign,
and we need everyone's help
in order to reach the target and fund the Taraf's new album!
(As many of you already know, this is a campaign to help the most fiery of all Balkan Gypsy bands
to record their first album in 7 years).
Please spead the word and encourage people around you to go NOW to
http://www.ulule.com/taraf-de-haidouks/
and pre-order one of the special items on offer.
We recommend ordering copies of the special, numbered vinyl 2LP edition
of the Taraf de Haïdouks' cult album "Band of Gypsies" (from 2001),
which will be the first-ever Taraf release on vinyl,
but there are plenty of other unique rewards:
GYPSY SKIRTS,
customized bottles of palinca (PLUM BRANDY) from the Taraf's village,
musical INSTRUMENTS,
a signed, BOX SET with the band's entire discography,
as well as downloads of UNRELEASED TRACKS,
BACKSTAGE passes,
and PRIVATE CONCERTS at home (if anyone dares to engage in this unique experience...).
To thank you in advance for your support,
here's a link to a previously-unreleased 10-minute video of Taraf de Haïdouks
performing their wild reading of Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances:
https://vimeo.com/101072833
This version was originally created by Taraf for their "Maskarada" album (2007),
in which they "re-gypsified" works by classical composers who had drawn their inspiration from folklore
by borrowing elements of Roma music.
Thanks again, and let's hope that on Thursday at midnight (yes, that's the deadline...), we can all celebrate the success of this campaign!
